Five vulnerabilities we find on almost every walkthrough

After enough assessments the same gaps keep appearing. Most take an afternoon and very little money to close.
1. Propped or unlatching rear doors
Staff prop rear doors for deliveries, smoke breaks, or airflow, and worn strike plates let doors sit closed without latching. Both are open invitations.
2. Storage that nobody can see
Stock rooms and yards are often out of sight of any staffed area. Sightlines, controlled access, and a simple sign-in log fix most of this.
3. Landscaping that creates cover
Overgrown shrubs and stacked pallets beside entrances give someone a place to wait unseen. Trimming to knee height around entries costs nothing.
4. No documented procedures
When opening, closing, and key handling live only in people's heads, they change with every new hire. Write them down once.
5. Nobody owns security
If security is everyone's job it is nobody's job. Name one person responsible for the checklist, the key register, and the incident file.
